Jadyn's POV:

Christmas, somewhat surprisingly, wasn't all that different from previous years. It was just us this year, and there was snow on the ground, but we still continued our traditions from before. It was definitely more barren as far as gifts go, but that doesn't matter to me. As I've gotten older, I've realized that it's less about the gifts and more about the time we share with those we love... especially as that time grows short. As for my birthday, that was definitely a new experience. The entire village gathered for fireworks on New Year's, and we gathered again the following day to share food and participate in traditional song and dance. My birthday followed... or is following, I should say... the same pattern as Christmas... something we've taken to calling "the rolling holidays". The postal system is far from consistent out here, and most of us are still waiting on presents to come in. I'm sure there's a little excitement in all of us when we hear the plane arrive everyday.

Emily Thoughts

Christmas was great loved the sop chocolate and the bubble slides and most importantly my very tasty Italian candies that i love so much. We did some dancing stuff while putting food on the ground for new years, Jadyn shot a gun, i choked on one of the lovely candies I was talking about earlier. (josh pushed me that's what made me choked)

I have 1/8 of an actual toenail the rest of it is like mushy skin. yuh. oh before i go, i choked on a muffin yesterday Jadyn said to heat it up for ten seconds but it wasn't hot enough for me so i put it in for a minute, i took a big bite because i was hungry, duh. but it was to hot so i inhaled to try to cool it down. IT WENT DOWN WITH THE AIR, i was choking on the muffin for a solid ten minutes. ok bye bye for real now.

Avery's POV

Christmas was a wonderful Christmas. But our Christmas isn't over yet because not all of our gifts came in. New Years was fun. The other teacher and her husband brought fireworks in from Fairbanks so they let us shoot off some fireworks. The village did firework up by the ballpark. Then we had to go back to school and leave the waking up at 11:00 am everyday. So in about 2 1/2 weeks I will be going to Anchorage for an ANSEP Academy where I will be building my own computer and other fun things. And in April I will be going up to Barrow for a student leadership conference. I am also competing in an Alaska's Heart Art competition. So high hopes for that!

Joshua's thoughts

So Christmas was pretty good and tiring, because I stayed up until 8 AM and was tired the entire day. But I was happy because I got a fishing set with lures, bait, fishing line and I also got red sandals, which are nice, because they're red. New Year's was probably the best because I got to jump over fireworks, which is very fun to do if you do it right. We all stayed up until 4 AM then we went to bed. But also something unexpected happened as well. So apparently, I'm the only student at our school who has been selected to take the national exam, also known as NAEP. It's a national exam that some students from around the nation are randomly selected to do, so they can see if we are learning properly. That's all I have to say for now, but there will probably be new things next time I post, so Bye!!

Wrap Up (Ashley)

This week at school was both abundantly promising, as well as incredibly frustrating. My week was great, the first great full week my class has had since I've been here. Philip's, on the other hand, was challenging, for many reasons. More on that next week.

In the meantime, we'll be experiencing the warmest temps here since we got here in October. A high of 34 degrees and a low of 27 on Monday, which means...our family and friends in Texas, you will be colder than us!!!
